EPTA is the result of an alchemical artistic research with cathartic purpose, undertaken in the need to overcome a complex personal experience recognized and gutted with lucid analysis.
In esotericism the number seven corresponds to the search for the Self, the sum of the celestial three and the terrestrial four, and represents the dualism present in man.
In this research on the dichotomy I draw on esoteric symbolism by putting in dialogue, in the video, the duality of Queen Grimilde and her counterpart Snow White.
EPTA stands for Heptagram, the esoteric seven-pointed star designed in the installation by seven evanescent plexiglass pyramids suspended from the ceiling and positioned at the vertices of the flat figure.
Each pyramid corresponds, in symbolism and materials: a number from one to seven, one day of the week, a sacred planet, an alchemical metal, a planetary angel opposed to a planetary spirit, in the eternal struggle of opposites:
1. Monday - Moon - Silver - Gabriel - Phul
2. Tuesday - Mars - Iron - Samael - Phaleg
3. Wednesday - Mercury - Mercury - Raphael - Ophiel
4. Thursday - Jupiter - Pond - Sachiel - Bethor
5. Friday - Venus - Copper - Anael - Hagith
6. Saturday - Saturn - Lead - Cassiel - Aratron
7. Sunday - Sun - Gold - Michael - Och
This dichotomy is repeated in the videoperformance "Enantiodromia" (00:02:02) which according to Heraclitus is the game of opposites in becoming.
"That which is opposed is convenient, and from the things that differ, the most beautiful harmony is generated, and all things are born according to the race and the contest" (Heraclitus, Fragments).
In the artistic action I play the black Queen Grimilde, rendered in a saturated black and white while pronouncing the famous phrase in front of the mirror, in the cyclical struggle between positive and negative, spirit and matter, good and evil, in the awareness that it is from coexistence and fusion of opposites that we reach the Truth.
